    4. Keep it for another week and pay the late charges ($500).

Would of given a higher rating if not for the staff including some insurances without my knowledge in the charge

This insane, and ridiculous waste of my time and resources MUST be a very easy fix, that no one was able to solve. I was willing to pay another $200 to keep it for a week. I had the car, Hertz had all my information, I was even willing to take it into a Hertz shop in the location that I was to sign papers or pay, or have the car inspected.

    3. Return it to the Gold Coast for a $27 fee. (And get a new one...And then add another 1 way fee a week later).

All the while it should be clear that there was no question the car was full. Despite simply questioning us not being told up front about the seat requirement, he huffed and puffed an slapped at the car then very extravagantly wrote across the window 'Needs fuel?'. I requested the final receipt and he basically threw it at us. Upon reading we had been charged 10L at $4.54/litre an extra $45. We were not told about the charge and sneaking it in there was downright deceptive and deceitful.

Ridiculous. Lacking common sense. Bad for business. And just generally a terrible experience. The only Star this company gets was that the car was nice...And that's not even to their credit.

Never again. You've lost a consistent and loyal customer.

I will never use Hertz again, which is a shame...

Amazing welcome, car was clean and ready to go! Very helpful staff, providing us with directions to our destination. Would definitely recommend.

    1. Return the car to Brisbane and exchange for a new one (adding immense time, paperwork, and unnecessary driving time + expense)

While I don't get the logic behind the policy in the first place i understand if it's a business decision. It is however up to Hertz to properly communicate it to customers as it wouldn't have been an issue had we known we needed one. The way were were received was disgusting though and completely soured what should have been an otherwise fine experience.

Car hire was easy. The return experience was rude and downright deceitful. We filled up the car at the Shell next to the terminal and upon return was unfortunately served by John who must have been having a horrible day. He rudely asked where the receipt for the fuel was and when we explained we didn't know we needed to produce one we got a rude and condecending response about the reason behind and that we were told upon picking up the car that we would need to produce one (we weren't). When we explianed that we were told we snapped at that we should have read the rental contract (yes it technically is buried in the fine print).

I picked up a small compact car to use for 7 days. The woman at the counter was generally prickly and not very friendly. I paid in full, and was told about their policies around Tolls ($30 admin fee + toll fee) and their fuel policy (must keep receipt and show when returning - must be nearby 15km). I paid $200 for the week and then I then they took a $200 deposit on my credit card.

Deceitful booking process. I booked online, paid a deposit, and received an email confirmation saying that there was only $74 left to pay when I picked the car up. But when we got there they charged me an additional $30 which wasn't included in the quote. But they already had my deposit - so what could i do? I challenged the staff on this price, but she wouldn't budge. I would not recommend.

Instead, I was so angry that I drove all the way to Brisbane airport, gave the car back, rented another car with AVIS (For only $155 - much cheaper), and had to drive all the way back to Lismore to attend court. 6 hours of driving.

After 4 days it was clear that I would need to rent the car for longer. I was in the Byron Bay region at the time (2 hours south). I called in, but was told that because I had paid in full, the policy wouldn't allow me to extend my car rental. (Which is ridiculous) I tried calling again to the corporate line and I even went in to Hertz in Byron Bay and Hertz in Lismore.
